Random Vibration Test
Scope To determine the ability of an individual packaging and its interior packaging to protect the contents from random vibration which considers road excitation and air excitation during transit.
Reference ASTM D4728, ASTM D4332
Test Procedure
  • The test specimens should be condition as per standard WATER-GDC-T099.
  • The computer controlled servo hydraulic vibration system to reproduce a random truck vibration profile - representing the cross country truck distribution environment as indicated in the spectra profile shown below.
  • Program the vibration system to reproduce following random vibration profile,
  • Truck vibration at 0.52 Grams (profile one).
  • Place the test package on the vibration table. Fixtures may be used during testing to prevent the package from moving off the table to prevent unsafe conditions or to maintain test orientation without restricting the vertical movement.
  • Test specimen is to be tested in all three axes i.e. X, Y and Z axis.
  • When testing is complete, conduct a complete physical evaluation of the shipping container and the product. Photograph any note worthy or questionable damage. Perform pass/fail assessment and prepare report.
  • Random Vibration Test Random Vibration Test
Evaluation After the test evaluates the test specimen and assemblies for noticeable deformations or cracks.
Level of Acceptance / Success Criteria After the test there should not be any major damage to packaging and test specimens.
All test specimens should pass the test.
